Alliance Benchmarking Service
One of Alliance Best Practice’s core diagnostic methodologies, this is a tried and tested tool consisting of up to 52 questions that takes, on average, about 35 minutes for each individual alliance executive to complete. This is normally done on-line. The questions are varied in their nature, but allow executives to express their views on the competence and effectiveness of the alliance in dealing with the full spectrum of critical success factors (CSFs) in five crucial dimensions: Commercial, Technical, Strategic, Cultural and Operational.
The results are analysed and interpreted by our consultant(s) who feed back the findings and highlight important issues with the executives, key stakeholders, or the entire alliance team. As well as enabling executives to rate their own performance, The alliance diagnostic tool can also allow alliance executives to comment on the performance of their partners in a 360 degree analysis.
Where applicable we can include more participants in the survey – within the company it may, for example, be relevant and useful to get the views of key stakeholders at three levels: Strategic, Managerial or Operational (or indeed capture a balanced view from all three). Externally it is often interesting to canvas important key stakeholder views from a range of partners to diagnose systemic strengths and weaknesses (i.e. what are we good and bad at as a company in our partnering efforts).
The findings can of course then be benchmarked against the ABP database of industry best practices. How does my alliance compare with other companies in my own sector? What are the success strategies being employed by companies in other sectors that I could use? How does our alliance performance compare with our performance one year ago and two years ago? Which CSFs are the most critical and why? What is the most appropriate improvement programme given our current alliance maturity level?
